Which Subjects Pay Professors the Most?

Salaries of college professors can widely vary. Who makes the big bucks? According to The Huffington Post, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported which academics make the most – relatively speaking -using data from the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources. Here are the top ten average salaries:

1. Law $134,146

2. Engineering $112, 679

3. Business, Management, Marketing $109,919

4. Computer Science $101,219

5. Air Transportation $99,803

6. Area, Ethnic, Culture And Gender Studies $98,375

7. Architecture $95,723

8. Health $94,610

9. Natural Resources And Conservation $91,420

It’s no surprise that a few of these subjects also translate into majors that have the best job prospects, though the fact that ethnic, cultural and gender studies made the list is  a bit of a surprise. It’s hard to think of a lot of jobs with that major, but maybe it’s that those classes are popular for students with other majors.
